Look at who's reached a decade

Someone in our house accomplished a great feat this past weekend- Laine turned ten.  I know you think that this is nothing, but here's the thing Christian does not like his daughters aging and had forbid the birthday. Good thing that Laine was able to use her new found debate skills and I was able to use the art of subtle persuasion  (best argument was that as she got older we got a built in baby sitter) we had a birthday.

Laine decided she wanted a tenth birthday party to celebrate so we had her family party the day before he actual birthday. A Laine birthday wouldn't be complete without her traditional homemade chocolate cake, with chocolate whip cream topping, and chocolate covered strawberries. 

 Laine is such a great big sister. She had no problem when James jumped up on the chair with her to open presents.

The next day, the actual birthday, we prepared the house for the ten ten year olds about to descend. This wasn't going to be a sleep over but a late over. Thank heavens because I don't think I could take all the squealing for the whole night. We had a craft station....

 We were ready and Laine changed into her pjs for this totally girl pj party. The kids had fun shaping their pizza dough and making their own pizzas.

 There a lot of silliness going on during this point...oh ten year old girls I don't know what to do with you and your craziness.

 Then while the pizzas were cooking the girls went and designed their own foam door hangers.

here is one thing I learned then year old girls might just be the silliest things on the planet.

After the movie, lots of popcorn, soda, sugar, and one very squeally pillow fight it was time for birthday cupcakes. After a chocolate cake Laine decided she wanted vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting topped with chocolate sprinkles and chocolate dipped Nilla Wafers.

These were a great success and the party was fabulous. The kids all groaned as various parents arrived to retrieve their children. It was tough but at the end of the day I had one very happy ten year old.

Laine is an incredible daughter, sister, friend, and person. She is quick to help and to serve. She is smart and works hard to maintain her grades. she also makes sure that everyone is happy. I have never seen a better big sister and Matthew simply adores her.  She is turning into a young lady and is an incredible person. I am so lucky to be part of her life.
